Canadian Jeff Cuccurollo, last of the ParadisePoker Team players, finished in WSOP´09 Main Event on 284th place on Day 5. He outlasted 6,210 players and he will take back to Toronto $32,963. In the last hand he went all-in with QQ but his chances for double-up disapeared when his opponent called with AA and Queen didn´t hit the board.

Jeff is the only member of Team Paradise left in the WSOP Main Event. He has 296k chips and is on Table Blue 2 in Amazon Room.

Last supper for part of WSOP ParadisePoker Team

Last evening we had a farewell party for the WSOP ParadisePoker players who were eliminated in first two days of WSOP´09 Main Event. We spent a pleasant evening full of delicous food in a private lounge of luxury chinese restaurant P.F.Chang´s in Planet Hollywood Hotel. This was the last day for 10 players in Las Vegas. But five of ParadisePoker players will stay in Vegas and try to do their best in Day 3 and hopefully in the next days as well.

Rafal Fabrykiewicz is out

Rafal Fabrykiewicz has unfortunately been eliminated. After having his stack decimated when losing a big hand with pocket 10s and being left with only 2,700, he managed to claw his way back up to 25,000. Shortly afterwards though, 10s were his downfall again when he went all-in and was called by a player with AK. An Ace on a the flop and no improvement on the turn and river sent Rafal to the rail.

This was the first live tournament Rafal had ever played in so it was a big achievement to make it this far. Congratulations to him! He said he's has really enjoyed himself and will be aiming to qualify with Paradise again for the 2010 WSOP.

6 Paradise players remain at the dinner break. Unfortunately we lost Radek Stockner and Antonio Dominguez Alvarez.

Carlos Oliviera started the day with 96,000 chips and now leads the Paradise pack with 220,000. This is even after suffering 2 coolers early in the day when he ran a king high flush into the nut flush and with AQ on an AQ7 board he ran into pocket 7s. Quite a comeback!

Players are into their 3rd level of play today and there are 8 Paradise players still standing.

Unfortunately we've lost both David Corkett and Peter Lunavic. David was unlucky to lose when he got his stack in the middle holding KK only to be busted by AQ. Peter took a big hit earlier in the day when he lost with AQ againt AJ on an A high flop when his opponent hit running back door flush cards. He was eliminated shortly afterwards when he pushed his chips in with K10 only to run into KK. Well done to both of them for making it this far!

I'll follow up with chip counts from the remaining players when they are available.

We're two levels in and players are now on a 90 minute dinner break. 13 ParadisePoker players still stand with our very own Radek Stockner from the Czech Republic quite possibly the tournament leader with 100,000 in chips! He picked up a large chunk of those chips when winning a monster pot with a straight flush against quads! Radek held 9s 10s on a board of Jh, 8s, Jc, 7s, Js with his unfortunate opponent holding AJ.

The players arrived today, unbelievably in the middle of a rainstorm, ridiculous for the middle of the desert, obviously bringing some European weather with them. They'd all had a good flight though and arrived very excited and in high spirits.

We took the short coach journey over to Planet Hollywood and then all relaxed and had a drink in the Paradise Poker suite where we have games, table football, a full bar, plus a few chip sets of course!

We also took the time to hand out all the tournament tickets, spending money, Paradise Poker bags and VIP passes for the week which all the players seemed very happy with.

We'd been back down to the Rio in the morning to sort out the minor issue with the registrations and make sure all our players were set up for event 51 on Saturday morning. We just beat Daniel Negreanu to the cashier's desk but when he got served he wouldn't stop talking. The guy is certainly full of energy and was munching his way through a plastic bag of watermelon - times must be hard if he's taking a packed lunch to the WSOP!

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas

Landed after a surprisingly comfortable 10-hour flight, strolled through customs with no hassle and picked up my bag third off the conveyor. Am hoping this is not the end of my luck for the week!

Walking in to the bright sunlight out of the airport and the heat hits like a hairdryer in the face, welcome to Las Vegas. A short trip from the airport takes us through the undeveloped parts of the city, nothing over two stories high and all fairly beige and bleak, the grids of the roads all straight and six lanes wide, sucking you in to the madness of the strip.

The contrast between the strip and the rest of the city could not be more stark. Glass, steel, concrete, neon and noise are everywhere along the road, along with fountains, fire from plastic volcanoes and people wandering around, gawping at the sky-high buildings and their fantastic exhuberence.

Planet Hollywood (our hotel) looks relatively sober by comparison, but once inside it's all girls and glamour, sleek, modern and pretty cool. We check in, check out the casino floor and then head out to the Rio to see if we can pick up all the player registrations for event 51, the $1500 NLH on Friday.

There's no real buzz at the Rio yet, I guess we're too early in the WSOP schedule and probably a bit early in the day - there's an event being played, but it's only just started so people are concentrating on the game!

We don't have much luck picking up the tickets but do manage to speak to someone who can sort it out for us. Back tomorrow to try again, in the meantime we head down the strip to take in some of the ridiclous sights...

We’re taking our team to Vegas!

All the winners of the Paradise Poker Las Vegas promotion will be on their way to Sin City on Wednesday 24th June, and you can follow their highs and lows in the US right here.

There are 80 players heading out to play event 51 ($1500 NL) and then another 16 going to play the main event, all of whom qualified just by earning Frequent Player Points (FPPs) and playing in our freerolls.

We'll have regular updates on their progress, photos of the team in action, plus a taster of what being part of the Paradise Poker team in Vegas is all about, so stay tuned...
